TIME WARNER CABLE STAND-BY GENERATORS - Various Locations
Client: BP Mechanical
Time Warner Cable serves more than 11 million customers offering high quality digital cable, fast Internet access and digital phone services over an advanced fiber optic network.
TAS Engineering, PC participated in these design build projects for the installation of 1000 KW, bi-fuel generators at three locations to provide stand-by power for Time Warner Cable's critical operations. TAS Engineering, P.C. also provided the fuel oil system design for a new rooftop mounted, 2000 KW stand-by generator.
ABC, INC. TECHNICAL CHILLED WATER SYSTEM - New York, NY
Client: ABC, Inc.
TAS Engineering, PC was retained by ABC to prepare an engineering study to evaluate various options to provide chilled water to the critical, technical chilled water riser system for ABC's main headquarters' building. The technical chilled water system is critical to the cooling of equipment rooms and data centers throughout the building.
We developed a plan that involved installing two new energy efficient chillers and connecting to an existing condenser water system in the facility. A plate and frame heat exchanger was provided to enable free cooling when weather permitted. The existing system was converted into a primary/secondary pumping arrangement which hydraulically isolated the technical chilled water system from the other buildings chilled water systems. The primary/secondary pumping arrangement also allowed for installation of variable frequency drives on the pumps on the secondary loop. This design provided for reliable chilled water as water would be provided by the new chillers, the building's chillers, the adjacent building's chillers or from the plate and frame heat exchanger.
Due to this design, installation of efficient chillers, variable speed pumping, variable speed cooling towers and the installation of a heat exchanger for free cooling, this project was eligible for funding from NYSERDA.
Critical Facilities
LUXURY GOODS RETAILER DATA CENTER - New York, NY
Client: DS&F Architects
TAS Engineering, PC provided MEP engineering services for this data center located in a commercial office building. The project included designing for a new electrical service, a clean agent fire suppression system, in-row air conditioning and a glycol system with fluid coolers.
AMERICAN BIBLE SOCIETY DATA CENTER - New York, NY
Client: American Bible Society
The American Bible Society's existing data center that is utilized for business operations and internet commerce had expanded to a point where the existing HVAC, electrical and fire protection systems where no longer sufficient and were not reliable. TAS Engineering, PC was retained to develop a plan to keep the existing data center in operation as a new data center was built and to provide a seamless migration over to the new data center.
The new data center included redundant air conditioning systems with base building chilled water back-up, a new electrical service, a clean agent fire protection system and full monitoring and alarm systems.
